Following the Techtalk thread here I invite provisional interest in a Willans harness bulk buy.
To keep this simple, we are talking about Caterham specific harnesses only. This spec means:
Rotary aircraft buckles, handed left & right for driver/passenger Reversed lap strap adjusters for ease of use with Tilletts 7/16 bolt in harness strap mounts Short straps to suit Caterham cockpit 3" shoulders, 2" laps
Then you would have the following options: standard 4 point or 6 point with 'T' crutch plug in strap Alu or steel shoulder adjusters Red, Black or Blue
If we can get enough orders to hit Willans 10+ quantity pricing, we can get 30% off list prices. I've been quoted two up to date prices as an example:
Caterham 4 point alu adjusters - £164.10 (RRP+vat) - 30% = £114.87+vat Caterham 6 point alu adjusters - £176.08 (RRP+vat) - 30% = £123.26+vat
Caterham 4 point steel adjusters - £122.90 (RRP+vat) - 30% = £86.03+vat Caterham 6 point steel adjusters - £134.88 (RRP+vat) - 30% = £94.42+vat
These will be subject to shipping as well but currently that looks to be around £1 per harness to me, and a yet to be researched figure onwards to you - budget £10 for two harnesses. Willans cannot supply fixing kits but I have a few leads on these that I'll be pursuing at Autosport.
So far we have:
For two 6 point harnesses - Luke Beaumont - 2 x 6 point, blue, alu Paul Collins PaulCo - 2 x 6 point, blue, alu Dave Jackson - 2 x 6 point, black, alu Andrew Dent - 2 x 6 point, black, alu Mike Feltwell MJF - 2 x 6 point, black, alu Bryn Noon bryn7 - 2 x 6 point, black, alu James Smith smithj41 - - 2 x 6 point, black, alu Paul Thompson - 2 x 6 point, black, alu Jonathan Berridge - 2 x 6 point, black, alu Phil Waters - 2 x 6 point, red, alu

Barbara - I've tried the LUKE harnesses route. All well and good, but I've had several conversations with non-petrolhead type people thus:
"How sweet, you've had your name embroidered" "No, I am displaying my impeccable motorsport credibility with harnesses made by Luke Racing Systems. That I am also called Luke is coincidence." "Oh."
Still, it was good enough to obtain some discount when I met the owner of LUKE at Autosport '01 |

Luke, when do you need to know/is it planned for? My gearbox hasn't been looked at yet , so I can't really commit until mid-late next week -sorry.

Phil - Willans said yesterday that they couldn't ship anything before xmas, so I think we might as well wait until the new year before closing the deal & placing the order. I trust that at this time of year nobody needs theirs sooner than this?
One other thing I've just thought of - I'm sure the lady said that these harnesses come without fixing hardware. That's no problem for me as I'm replacing a set, but if there's demand I'll ask whether they can supply a hardware pack at extra cost.

Luke,
You're right, Willans don't supply the necessary bolts, washers etc.
I need a set but was going to ask Hyperion as they are just up the road from me but if you can get all the fixings that would be handy.
According to the other thread in Techtalk we are going to wait until people have checked out some (non Willan I believe) harnessses at the Autosport show. When is that?
Cheers

I think when we go to finalise the order I'll ask everyone to confirm what they want again and say then whether they need fixings. These can either be got from Willans or some other source. Not going to be hard to come by I'm sure.
Autosport is 13/14/15/16 January. |
