Use Boolean expressions to describe exactly what you are searching for, using
the operators AND, OR, and NOT. You can combine your search words using these
operators too. Use parentheses (nesting) to further refine your search by
creating sets, for example, a search for (A or B) and (C or D) finds
all pages that contain either A or B AND either C or D.
However, single letters or numbers are not put into
the search database, so there's no point searching for '7' or 'k' for instance.
You can search for phrases, just enlose then in "s, eg "starter motor", the
search engine supports stemming, so you can use rivet* and get rivets and
rivetting, however, *vet or *vet* won't get you anything.
Here are some examples of Boolean searches:
-
starter and coil
-
barnby or minilite
-
repeater not sidelight
-
(lotus and seven) not (caterham and seven)
-
tonneau not (hood and half doors)
