News Flash - we were beaten to the bulk of the places for July so CoC has offered us more spaces on 12th June. Hope you can all make this new date - I will PM you to confirm your place - I list places and names as below - taken in order that you originally accepted
Runners and Race Number is order of people registering for the original event.
31.Mad Hatter 32.Linds 33.Mark Not Max (Smokin Lounge) 34.Sandy Sanders 35. Rob Perkins 36.Jakeand Lizzy (Jake #36 and Lizzy #136) if you both drive and both want timed runs 37.Ozzy - Confirmed
Before I go anyfurther this is NOT an official Club Day but I have negotiated places to attend 2 of the RAFMSA Sprint Series Open Day.
Back by popular demand.
I have no financial interest or chance to profit from this event but its an opportunity for club members to attend .....other RAFMSA members are looking to get their respective owners clubs there on the same day....so there should be a number of other Marques such as Westie and a gathering of VERY potent Mini Specials with 16V Red Tops
The event will be held at Barkston Heath Sprint Cicuit on Saturday 3rd July 2010.
The circuit is made up of one loop and does not have to re-run over the same track.
The surface is perfect and is provided with plenty of run of and or safey barriers.
Therefore a great and safe way to test the performance of your car - without having to contest with other drivers as would be normal on a track day....so if you've not yet had your car on a cicuit then this is great opportunity for you.
The day will be provided with all safety marshalls and first aid crews / fire support etc. A typical open day would be drivers briefing at 09:00 - convoy laps at 10:00 followed by open pit lane until lunch at 12:30 - lunch till 13:30 and then timed runs for about 90 mins followed by open pit lane for remainder of day. Track will close at around 16:30 hours.
With other members focusing on their respective clubs the event will be filled on a first come first served basis but it would be great to have the Caterham Marque represented
Regulations require all drivers (and their passengers) to wear helmets (motorcyle ones okay) and at the very least clean welders overalls or better still race suits. I can check the latest '10 regulations for anyone that this may present a barrier to.
Cost a VERY reasonable £55 pounds plus £35 for second drivers.. which I think represents very good value....
The circuit is equipped with all facilities (WC) and normally Catering Van etc so also makes for a sociable day not only for the drivers but also for their families.
Post below if you are interested but I must remind everyone that spaces are very limited and will be allocated strictly on first to pay and submit completed forms.
FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) from last year. Q.Do I need a race suit. No not essential but you will need clean cotton overalls - nothing that will melt when exposed to a flame.
Q. What standard of Crash Hat do I need.A. motorcycle helmets with a recognised certification will be okay.
Q. Do I need a full cage or FIA BarA. No - but if you want to do the timed runs (1 hour slot after lunch) then adequate roll over hoop is required giving adequate 2" clearance to the drivers head.
Q. I'm nervous I've never done this before.A. There is a first time for everything and the day is about fun and for you to drive within your limits in a safe way.
The club is friendly and there are plenty of people on hand to help and give support.
You are posting for Saturday 3rd July
