If this does happen we can all stand up and provide applause for one of our very own members who created the full size clay mule from the sketches he was given.
I have pictures of the work in progress.

Looks like a cross between a PT Cruiser and gawd only knows what. Not exactly easy on the eye, nor something I would want to admit owning. Still, each to their own .

The Aspid is quite an old car? 3-4 years??? They are lot, lot bigger than the pictures might let you think.

Don't take too much notice of the bodywork, this car has a very stiff spaceframe chassis and it would be easy enough to hang any number of different bodies on it, and if Lotus have been working on it we should have higher expectations than that!
I remember having a discussion with them at Autosport 2 or 3 years ago, and their numbers for chassis deflection were amazingly good.
It could very well be an excellent starting point for a very good car. |

A very odd car. It takes the basic concept of a 7 then adds weight and bling so you end up with a small heavy weight car. They must be aiming at the huge numbers of rappers among us. |

I don't get Lotus these days, it seems they have their minds set on making one bad decision after another. They have one of the world's greatest traditions in making lightweight, decently priced and hugely enjoyable sportscars. Surely the Elise must be considered one of the greatest modern classics?
They also have experience in building and designing one of the most talked about vehicles of the day, the Tesla. And what are they planning to do? To go upscale and start building heavy semi-luxurious sportscars with high prices. An area with many players already, and which utilises zero Lotus heritage and experience. This sounds like a recipe for disaster.

Autocar mentioned that the "new" 7 would be priced around £60k. Just doesn't make any sort of sense. They can't be serious?
Much as I love Lotus, I can't help thinking they are making a lot of very strange decisions at the moment.
